Pavel Ilyashov, violin
Violinist Pavel Ilyashov has been enthusiastically applauded by audiences throughout Europe, Asia, and the Americas for his performances as soloist, recitalist and chamber musician. The Miami Herald described a recent concert as a "Breathtaking display of virtuosity and rhapsodic expression". A class of 2003 graduate from Philadelphia's renowned Curtis Institute of Music, Pavel has performed chamber music with such musicians as Yo Yo Ma, Jaime Laredo, Paquito D'Rivera, and members of the Guarneri, Orion and Emerson String Quartets. Pavel's performances have been broadcast on CBS, ABC, PBS, and the popular radio program Performance Today. A debut CD under the sponsorship of the Buder Charitable Foundation has been released to critical acclaim. Another disk featuring works of Ravel was released in June 2007 on the Albany Records label. This season, Pavel tours throughout North America and Mexico with a unique program of works written for unaccompanied violin. Other solo engagements include concerto performances with the Virginia Symphony, the Academic Philharmonic of St. Petersburg, chamber music concerts on Bargemusic in New York, and a recital presented by Philadelphia's Astral Artistic Services featuring three world premier works written expressly for the occasion. Pavel is a full time member of the Virginia Symphony and a substitute violinist with the Philadelphia and Chicago Symphony Orchestras.
