Janet Kriner, Co-Principal Cello
Janet was principal cellist with the Peninsula Orchestra under Cary McMurran and became the Virginia
Symphony's principal cellist under Edgar Schenkmann in 1965. A graduate of the Philadelphia Conservatory
of Music, Janet Kriner joined the Feldman String Quartet in 1957. She played cello with the Feldmans until
it disbanded in 1985, and now plays with the Four Seasons String Quartet. With both Quartets, Janet has
participated with the nationally accredited Young Audiences of Virginia by playing music for local school
children. Janet is also a piano accompanist for students and a church organist.
