John Lindberg, Principal Timpani
 John Lindberg is in his 42nd season with the Virginia Symphony, serving as Principal Percussionist and
then as Principal Timpanist for the past 20 years. He has premiered two works with the VSO, Johan Franco's
Concerto Lyrico #4 for Percussion and Orchestra and Thomas Rice's Concerto for Timpani and Chamber Orchestra.
Mr. Lindberg teaches at The College of William & Mary, serves as President of the American Federation of Musicians,
Local 125, and is Vice-President of the Central Labor Council of Greater Tidewater, AFL-CIO. Mr. Lindberg also
served as percussion instructor at the Armed Forces School of Music during the Vietnam era.
