Whether you are a seasoned symphony patron or you have never stepped foot near a symphony, the Virginia Symphony Orchestra has adult education programs to suit your needs. Please click on the items below to learn more:
Enhancing the Concert Experience
This “duo” of activities accompanies the Masterworks concerts: Concert Conversations, hosted by the conductor or guest artist, is held one hour prior to the concert and offers the audience an informative discussion about the repertoire, composer or guest artist. Showcase present student musicians from the Hampton Roads area who perform in the lobby prior to the concert.

Harmony Project
The Harmony Project fosters relationships between African-American church congregations and the Virginia Symphony Orchestra. There are three ways that the Virginia Symphony Orchestra seeks to be involved with the church congregations. Congregations may have musicians participate in church services, host an educational experience during religious study classes, or allow VSO musicians to perform a community concert within the church. The Harmony churches also have access to complimentary and discounted tickets to Virginia Symphony concerts.

Audio Notes
Imagine walking into a concert feeling like you know the music inside and out. It is fun to bath in the sound of the symphony, but it is also fun knowing the structure and the history of the music you are about to hear. Our audio notes give you that extra knowledge to bring you to a new level of musical enjoyment. Click here to listen to our audio notes.
