As a season subscriber, what benefits do I receive?
- Ticket Exchanges
Subscribers may exchange into any concert at any venue 48 hours prior to concert. (Box Office closed Saturday). Exchanges subject to availability and one dollar processing fee. Quantities may be limited.
- Tax Credits
Unused tickets may be claimed as tax-deductible contribution. Return tickets to Box Office by noon Wednesday prior to concert for contribution receipt.
- Replacement of lost tickets
Contact Box Office Friday afternoon prior to concert for duplicates.
- Advance Tickets
Subscribers my purchase tickets to other concerts prior to public sale. Any additional tickets purchased by subscribers also receive a 10 percent discount.
What about parking?
Are venues handicapped accessible?
- Yes. And assistive listening devices are available at Chrysler Hall, Ferguson Center and Sandler Center. Call Symphony box office for information, 757.892.6366.
Do you offer discounts and group sales?
- We offer group discounts (10 +), military, senior and student discounts. For discounts, contact box office, 757.892.6366.
What should I wear?
- There is no dress code. Most people wear business clothes (coat and tie for men, street length dresses for women) or slightly dressy casual.
When should I arrive?
- 30 minutes before start time is appropriate.
- 60 minutes before the concert, JoAnn Falletta or the guest artist present Behind the Notes, an enlightening conversation about the music to be played.
What is late seating policy?
- We provide opportunity for late seating during first convenient pause in program.
Are food, beverages, and smoking available?
- Food and beverages permitted in lobby areas only.
- All venues are smoke free.
How long is a typical Symphony Performance?
- Performance length varies but a typical performance runs about two hours with a 20 minute intermission.
Can I bring my children?
- We love young children but discourage their attendance at evening concerts because of concert length. We recommend children be 6 or older to attend a Symphony concert and they need to have a ticket. Peanut Butter and Jam concerts are created especially for children ages 5-12 and their families.
- We do ask parents to take disruptive children out of the concert hall and tickets are not refunded.
When do I applaud?
- Usually after all movements of a piece are completed. When the conductor puts down her baton and turns to the audience it is appropriate to applaud. See program book for movements in the piece.
- Holding applause between movements is considered respectful to the musicians’ concentration and mindful of musical continuity.
Can I take a photograph?
- Cameras and other recording devices are not permitted.
- Please turn off all cell phones and pagers before concert begins.
