Store Purchases Help Support Symphony
Hampton Roads, VA…Barnes and Noble Booksellers at Coliseum Mall are bringing together good music and good books in a daylong Book Fair Tuesday, October 17 to benefit the Virginia Symphony Orchestra, the pre-eminent professional symphony orchestra in southeastern Virginia. A wind quintet from the Virginia Symphony featuring Debra Cross, principal flute, Sherrie Aguirre, principal oboe, Pattie Carlson, principal clarinet, David Savige, oboe and Alicia Waite horn will perform from 7:00 - 8pm in the store. Throughout the day and evening, customers are encouraged to visit the in-store Virginia Symphony table for information about the VSO concert season and for books and other CDs recommended for music lovers. When customers make purchases on October 17th, they may indicate they want to support the Virginia Symphony and a portion of the purchase will come back to the VSO as a corporate donation.
The Virginia Symphony brings musicians out into the community to perform in unique spaces as part of its community engagement program. Each Barnes & Noble store seeks to reflect the unique features of its particular community and its corporate program of book fairs for non profits is a natural fit with the Symphony community engagement program.
